I used to shore fish Casitas a lot...I haven't been up there in the last 3 years. I always had my best luck with plastic worms, either Texas or Carolina rigged. A drop shot might work as well. Best colors for me have been purple, brown/black, motor oil, green weenie. Heck...there are so many colors to choose from these days. I've caught more fish there on purple than anything...but I have a head like a rock.
Be prepared to lose a LOT of tackle if you are fishing the points west of the marina. There are a lot of fish there, but it can get frustrating at times. Fishing Casitas in general can be frustrating...grrrr.
There's some shore fishing spots east of the marina in wadleigh too. I haven't fished them much, but a bud of mine got a 4 pounder on his first cast...on his first day ever fishing.

True I swear...I took him there and set up his rod, netted his fish, and cleaned it for him. He was from another country and wanted to eat it...what can I say?
Another option...and a good one I think, is to just throw swimbaits all day. It's work, but the fact that you could get a hog at anytime keeps it pretty fun...for me at least. On the plus side you won't be re-tying every 10 minutes...the downside is that you might get skunked. I've been skunked at Casitas so many times that it makes me sick just thinking about it...why am I not ashamed?

When the shad move in, and they will pretty soon...it will be game off for the most part unless you can catch the candy. Good luck to you!
