yay, I got scammed. happy b-day to me.
Ya know, I do a lot of buying, selling on these boards. whether it's here, or hunting sites, or a few truck boards I visit. The cool thing about doing business on the boards, is that most people know each other. Well, I got royally screwed on my B-day. yay for me.
As a few of you know, I tune cars part time. Not the typical tuning, but with software. I tune for perfomance mods, blowers, cams, etc. About a year ago I sold my HPtuners software cause things got a little tight, and well, it had to go. I was always a bit bummed cause I made some decent side money with it, and I was always tinkering with my own truck.
For my b-day I treated myself to another copy of HPTuners. the basic version can be had new for under $500.00 so I talked with the wife and she said I could do it. Well, things are still a bit tight, so I sold some stuff to come up with the cash. We are in the middle of trying to buy a house, and with me still trying to get my biz going, cash is not as disposable as it used to be.
Okay, so I sell some stuff and post a WTB thread on a truck board. I get a PM from a guy that says he's got one he never uses. He says things like "Nelson does my tuning" who happens to be a guy in TX we all know. He calls me form an unblocked number, and He has posted pics of his truck with the front plate showing. However he only has 30 posts. I do a little google search and find out he has about 500 posts on anopther truck board where a lot of guys know him there.........safe to deal with right?
here's the kicker, he needs it Western Union cause he doesn't have PayPal. Red flag right? well, agian, I figured he's trustworthy, so I do the deal. Next day I pm him, and he says he's gotta find the tracking number, 2nd day I call him, he says he's working late, but he'll get me the number. 3rd day I pm him and tell him I guess I got screwed, and he got ALL PISSED saying that he's not like that and that he's pulling his hair out cause he's tryiing to find the number. Okay, I feel bad, and tell him okay, no biggie. He promises me it will be here Tuesday (a full week later) by 10:00am guaranteed. well, it's been 2 weeks, and I haven't seen a message from him in 3 days.
So, yay for me, I got screwed out of my own birthday gift. Just thought I'd rant.
