Half The Price and Just As Nice

Getting ready for our trip on Monday. Will be about 70 miles out looking for some Tuna, Dorado and of course will target some more AJ's and maybe some Grouper, Snapper and Goliaths but the later is not the present target but rather backup.

So I needed some more wind on leaders and picked up a few more jigs and some Monster Hooks in hopes of not straightening any of these and make it so we can put the big fish in the boat.

With all the hoopla of the Lucanus Jigs that was on this site I figured I would let you know our local shop finally got in the Braid Sea Fox knock-offs that come in a wider variety of sizes, much better and larger hooks and are half the price. I will indeed be adding some of these to my collection.

These are a little different shaped and hookup a bit different as well and not set up to have additional weight added but are set up to Jig and Troll. The finish is good, not as good as Shimano's but good, the eyes are larger and glow better and the entire body will glow as well which is a plus IMHO.

Have my Vertical Jigging rods ready to rock, my Tuna pitching rods ready to do battle. Unfortunately I have not yet gotten my Popping Rod so will be using an under gunned Shimano Tiralejo that I am afraid may end up spooled. Just in case I will carry a second spool loaded and ready to go if need be.

I will be video tapping and taking snap shots on this trip as well so stay tunned. if the weather holds we are hoping for a VERY exciting trip.

Also got word from my buddy Bill that he has a buddy to re-enforce the seats on my boat .

Have fun Tim. That would be a real shame to get spooled by a fish that is bigger than your setup can handle! I wish I had that problem.

Cool poppers! I've got one left as the first one was bit off by a boner of all things.

Go for it and have a ball.

I've used the heavy 12ft Shimano Tiralejo and found it a very strong and well casting rod for shore use.

I had to fix the but cap which came loose and the winch which was a bit "iffy" but otherwise a nice rod.
My buddy uses a shorter one for Yellowtail jigging from a boat and is also very happy with it.
