I was going to post this in the Gulf coast forum but there hasn't been any other posts in over a year! Mods, feel free to move if necessary.
Well I'm in Naples Florida on business and I decided to do a little fishing while I am here. I found a place in the harbor that runs an open party boat on a daily basis so I signed up. I lucked out because today they took the little 29' boat instead of the 43 footer so it wasn't very crowded (6 of us).
The boat was the "Dalis" and was fast so we were on the fish in under an hour. After passing all the multimillion dollar homes and we picked our jaws up off the floor, we headed out to our first stop. The first stop wasn't very productive but we got on a few undersized grouper.
The next couple stops were much better. Most of the grouper we caught were undersized (< 20") but the bite was pretty much wide open. We caught red grouper, gag grouper and several different kinds of snapper. The big fish of the day was my 26" red grouper. What a treat, all the fish I caught today were new species to me! All in all, it was a perfect day on the water.
