Question. . .

Hola,
It's Moogie. . .
Hey, do you guys in California have to buy a fishing license? If so, how much is it, and do you need any additional permits?
Do you have one for fresh water or salt, or can you buy a combo?
Anyone else from any other states, the info is welcome.
Moog

Yes moogie, we have to buy an annual license...it applies to both fresh and salt. It costs somewhere under $50 (I forget exactly). SoCal people have to buy an "ocean enhancement stamp" to fish South of Point Conception....the stamp is only a couple bucks.

Also, if you want to use 2 rods in freshwater, you have to buy a "second rod stamp". This is about $10 bucks...

Ya, I was just curious about what you guys pay out there.
It looks like we're going to have to buy a saltwater license starting in two years.
The state has been trying to whack us with a saltwater license for years, but the protests have stopped it until now.
Looks like it's going to be $25 for the year, but we can't fish for the whole year unless you want to do part of it in a polar suit.

Everyone is complaining because we're not going to get anything to benefit the fishery for the dollars we pay.
It looks like the money is going into the state's general fund instead of the fisheries fund like it does for the fresh water licenses.

It was only a matter of time before they got us too.

As far as I'm concerned, the $25 will give me lots of fishing fun for five months, unlike $25 worth of gas that will only get me around the corner.

Is it squid beak season yet?
