I need help and fast

I got screwed over and now I gotta move fast in order to save the day. A close friend of mines birthday is next weekend 8/2/08 and we were all supposed to go camp out at Skinner for the weekend but a friend in Arrowhead said we could use their house and boat up there instead and we went with it. Well they flaked out on me last minute and now I'm screwed cause I now cant get a site anywhere. I've tried Skinner, Perris, Silverwood, and all are full or wont take reservations this close to the dates. Any ideas out there? We pretty much don't care where it is as long as it's freshwater and camping in walking distance of the fishing

What do you have to camp in? i.e. tent, trailer, motorhome? How far do you want to travel?

We have a couple of decent sized tents and everything else needed so we were planning on just tent camping. Its kind of a just add water situation hahaha. Were all in north Orange County and I'm pretty much up for anything I can do there and back in a tank of gas

There are lots of campgrounds where you don't need a reservation @ Lake Isabella. It is about 45 miles east of Bakersfield. Unfortunately it is really hot up there right now, 100+ temps during the day and high 70's to mid 80's at night. It is better there if you have a trailer or motorhome with A/C.

Thanks J woodman and thanks to you to rjrich10. I got lucky and got in at Skinner after all and from what I'm hearing the Striper there are on the chew so it looks to be a great weekend. Early reports are Linesiders on the small side but plentiful and the largemouth and cat bite is hot too. I'll report back with trip results and hopefully a few good pics. Tightlines brothers!

Skinner was a wash! Rental boats with no anchors provided, blistering heat, and not enough beer. Ah well I'm doin Silverwood in a few weeks which should be a much better situation

silverwood killer

A great bait to throw at siverwood is a white spinner bait with silver willow leaf blades cast the points on a fan pattern and follow the bottom. It has worked very well for me in the past. Also topwater poppers in shad patterns Early in the morning Good Luck!!!!
