Passengers, crew get off sinking boat
Passengers aboard a 90-foot commercial dive boat named Vision were evacuated after crew members reported they lost their rudder and were taking on water.
The incident occurred Sunday, seven miles north of San Nicolas Island in Ventura County, in the most remote region of the Channel Islands.
The crew applied a temporary patch to slow the flooding. Still, the Coast Guard requested the 26 passengers and seven crew members put on life jackets.
The Coast Guard Sector Los Angeles received the report around 10:40 a.m. and sent an HH-65 Dolphin helicopter from Air Station Los Angeles, an MM-60 Jayhawk helicopter from Sector San Diego, the Coast Guard Cutter Blackfin, and a C-130 aircraft from Air Station Sacramento.
Passengers and crew were evacuated off the dive boat and transported back to shore, and the boat was towed, according to the Coast Guard
