what, in your opinion, is the best way to connect spectra to mono?

I don't know about the best, but a uni to uni has always worked well for me on anything less than 40lb mono.

The best is probably to serve the mono into short piece of hollow spectra with a knotless loop, and then go loop to loop. Much easier and cleaner if the spectra on the reel is hollow too. This is the only 100% connection that I am aware of. It's not the most practical in some circumstances, but it is the best.

I've been using a uni to uni too and so far it hasn't failed me.

If you're going that light, I would definitely use the uni to uni. It's a simple knot to master and it holds up well when using spectra.

Most of mine are still connected with a uni-uni. Lately, I've using the Tony Pena/Bob Sands. It's smaller than a uni-uni and goes through the guides nicely.

uni isn't the way to go on these because the mono and braid have a chance to rub together and will eventually cut the mono. The albright, worm or even blood are better because one or both of the different lines wrap around each other like a hand griping a pole instead of 2 fingers looped in to each other. Just my 2 cents, each to his own.

Here are some more knot choices from our own sight http://www.getbentsportfishing.com/h...fishing-knots/
