Shimano service rocks!
Hi all. I just wanted to share with you all that the service department at Shimano Reels in Irvine has treated me very well in the last few years. They are truly concerned about there present and possible future clients and they really go above and beyond when it comes to service.
Last year, just before the Get Bent BBQ in July, I sent in 2 very old Corsair 400 reels for general service. They were not thrashed but only in need of service. When I got the package back from Shimano there were 2 brand new Corvalis 400 in the box with all accessories. The total cost for that service was $20 plus the cost to ship the original reels one way.
Two weeks ago I sent those same reels in for a general service and lubrication. They had minimal boat rash after a year and the only problem was that one of them had a noisy roller bearing. I think that was caused by many trips in the kayak where the reels get worked all day. They sent me back 2 brand new Corvalis 400 reels with box and all accessories again. The total cost this time was NOTHING! Talk about a happy customer. For all of my future purchases, you can bet that Shimano is at the top of my list. I can't tell you how much respect I have for Shimano and how well they stand behind their product.
This is just one happy customer sharing my experience with my fishing buds.

I went to shimano.com and followed the links to reel repair. They have a form that they want you to print and send in with the reels. It also tells you he various charges for different kinds of reels. My experience is that they don't follow the charges very well.

how much would it be to get a fairly new curado serviced to get the salt out of it? i made the mistake of using a cu200 in sandiego bay for sandbass, i had a blast, until i realized that pieces of my reel were starting to ick and rattle that probably shouldnt... i might service it myself, but i'd rather have it done professionally(and the chance of getting a new curado is way too good to even think of passing up...)...

I have been using Shimano rods and reels since the mid 80's and have never been disapointed.
