Modify Drop Shot Rod?

Hey there all you rod builders. I bought this Shimano drop shot rod about 6 months ago. I love it but when I hold my reel in my hand so the rod is perfectly balanced, the but of the rod hits my bicep. I am guessing i need to to be about 1-2 inches shorter in the but section. So, what is the best thing for me to do? Have someone professionaly cut off the but and install a new one where I want? Can I do it myself? Can I re-use the but cap that is on the rod? I like it...What about the hook hanger? Thanks guys. Here are some pictures...

The hook keeper can be rewrapped higher, The butt cap can be replaced, the cork will have to be replaced and installed from the bottom up, which is not the normal way to put it on, because of the direction of the taper, but you shouldn't be able to tell by the time you add the hook keeper winding check and finish it off.

As far as doing it yourself, that's up to what you believe your ability is.

Well, I'm gald it's at least possible. I am pretty handy when it comes to things like this, but I think I would just prefer to have someone else do it that has some experiance. Any body out there that would like to tackle this project for me? How about a quote via PM for the whole job. Thanks ahead of time....
