Thumbs up

Google it and you'll find lots of reading on "how to".
Buy some materials, a Blank, winch, guides that's suitable for you and start to practice. Not much you can mess up that cant be fixed or re done if it does not work the way you want.

Ive never done it but am sure you could practice wrapping on some pvc conduit or something like that

I started wrapping my own rods by hand and eventually made a home made power wrapper and make all my own and occasionally for a friend.

Its gratifying to catch a fish on a rod you made yourself........Have fun!

mudhole.com has a very good "rodbuilding 101" start there.

Check out Doc Ski's DVD. I think acidrod.com carries it. Its a great DVD and explains step by step what to do. A really good source of information is rodbuilding.org and RodMaker magazine. Have fun...but be warned it can be more addicting than fishing.

Here's how I learned: Become friends with someone who has been doing it for 20 years, hang out at their shop and drink beer alot. watch them wrap, ask lots of questions, you will be wrapping nice rods in no time.
