Custom 90j

Hey guys. I have been getting a lot of inquiries about my new jig stick. Instead of having the links to the pictures berried in other threads, I was asked to start a new thread with descriptions and pictures. So, here it is.

This rod was wrapped by Randy Search from Randmade Rods. He is located in Temecula, Ca. and I can't say enough good things about the guy. The rod is a glass 90j with Alps guides. The handle is 1/16" cork tape with cord between the tape and covered with x-wrap. A turks head and a large butt cap finished off the rod. The guides are triple wrapped meaning that he puts down a layer of thread and puts a coat of finish on them before he places the guides on the blank. He then proceeds to do a standard double wrap on top of that thus resulting in a triple wrap.

The reel I have on it is a Newell P332 with 40# clear Izorline XXX. I put HT-100 drags and ceramic bearings in the reel. It is attached to the rod with a JR Jones Cork Puppy and feels very secure. Here are the pics.

The last picture is of the rod after I took it out and test casted it a few times. The white stuff is just salt residue and after a little warm water, it cleaned right back up.

He communicates VERY well through e-mail. Sometimes I think he has a laptop attached to him somewhere

Oh, and just so you know, he attached the guides temporarily to the rod and puts a bend in it to adjust the guides perfectly. He doesn't use any kind of standard pattern for rods because every rod is different. That is why the picture of the rod bent doesn't look like the same rod. It was taken as he was building it before he laid down the thread.

Brian,
Would you stop putting pictures up and get some blood on that thing, LOL. Glad your happy with it, you'll be even happier with a big yellow on the other end.

I actually had another account here but I let it expire so I had to start with and new screen name at "1" again. Randy.
