Did the La Jolla thing today. I launched early enough to get bait and have lines in at greylight right where I wanted to be....at around 6:45 my bottom bait goes zZZzzzzZzzZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ --and you know that sounded just like a chainsaw it being a Jigmaster with their nasty old school clicker!
I was throwing so much wake I had to put my legs in to slow me down...
Well, this fish pretty much owned me for the first 15 minutes on 20# test....I started getting a little back, but it would be taken right back...total time I'd say would be around 25 minutes and up pops my first BSB....I'd guess ~80# I didn't snap any pix of it as I wanted to focus on a good clean release. It was still really lively and I was able to lip him, remove the hook, and hold him upright for a quick bit before he splashed me and went down...Big fish fun with out all the mess
While hooked up I heard some hoots from a ways away and apparently the yellows made a good showing and a guy lucked into one on the surface iron....heard of another on the yo yo, but other than that the 8 or so that were out had a pretty nice mellow paddle...
