great report and write up!

Ive always wondered why people dont use levelwind reels such as the Tekota when jigging with straight spectra? I know how harsh spectra can be on your hands. Anyone care to shed some light on this? I am looking to buy a Tekota/Trevala combo for jigging and would like some input.

Not sure what you're getting at, the reel or the braid or both?

I guess you’re saying that using a level winder for jigging makes sense as it enables you to retrieve without looking at your reel and it overcomes the problem of braid cutting the thumb that guides it. It improves casting and enables you to concentrate on working the iron more effectively. I agree.

Continued later.

Bing,
Yo bruttha, ICEE and myself have been the butterfly jig stuff before Shimano put it to the market.....been doing Diamond jigs, Yozuri's, assorted irons, even my home made stuff....went to thrift stores and bought tons of old stainless butter knives, cut the blades off, drill pressed holes at each end, installed split rings, put prizm stickers on them, rigged them with stinger hooks or straight or trble hooks.... total cost for one rigged less than $1 each!
