Deer Creek Report

Quick report:
The waves were a lot bigger than we expected (1-2 feet), more like 3ft with occasional 4 ft thrown in. They were constant without much time in between. Waited forever for a break and made it in OK. Landing was tough, but got in dry, luckily. Austin got sideways but dug in his paddle and kept it upright. I hopped out before one rolled my yak in the sand...major sugar donut!

The water was 60°F, low visibility with a strong uphill current. Wind was around 12 knots from S, so it was really tough to keep the yak in one place, let alone the lures. Very bumpy and choppy.

Only managed to scrape up 2 calicos and a rockfish. Got out early to face the stairs up to the PCH. Still, it was good to take a day off work!

We're going to try a spot in North Ventura tomorrow, if interested give me a pm!

Sounds like Austin has it together. i should take lessons from him. That climb up is tough with your heavier kayaks. When I go I think I will bring my scrambler instead of the outback. At least 10# lighter. Thanks for the pics. This Monday would be a good day to take off work to and join me (Oh if only it was that easy)
