"Sculp"dale

Who: YakSailor Sr., Jr. & Potto
When: Friday, Nov 2, 2007
Water Conditions: 3 ft low tide, 14 ft visibility, 62°F water temp.
Air Conditions: Partly Cloudy, 3 to 10 mph wind, about 70°F
Craft: Hobie Revolutions
Setup: Daiwa Capricorn 3500 with 8' graphite rod, 15 lb flouro. Daiwa 2500, Cajun Red 12 lb mono, on a 7' fiberglass Mr. Big Fish. Penn Sabre Jigmaster Big5 Specials, Braid with mono leader.
Lures: Big Hammers, Curly Tails, Squid Lures and scent
Target : Rockfish
Catch: 1 Calico, 1 whitefish, 5 sculpins, 8 assorted rockfish, plus Potto's catch of mostly sculpin

I decided to take a day off to coincide with Austin's day off and go fishing. Glad I did, too. I can't recall catching so many fish in one session. We had a great time. For whatever reason, they were biting today. The take-off and landing were a bit rough for Austin today, but at least he rolled the yak AFTER we were done.

Pete had the hot stick today with sculpins. They were everywhere...big ones, little ones, colorful ones. We fried them up for dinner, and yes, they were TASTY!!!

Here's some pics:

Austin's whitefish:

A cool looking treefish:

Only one calico today:

The catch of the day:

It'll be too windy to fish tomorrow. Hopefully Sunday will be a better day.

Fun day John.
We will have to do it again.
I thought we were getting off the water around 11...........it was 2:30.
Wow, time flies.

Launching at the wooden stairs couldn't be any easier.
Water clarity was IMO the hot ticket. Must have been 20ft or so.
The ocean was a lake. Wind was low.
First time for me to limit on Sculpin. I wonder if they are good lobster bait.
