Too Little, Too Late at Sculpdale

We decided to make a last ditch effort for rockfish before the end of the season. My license still had a couple of miles left on it, too. When we got to Sculpdale this morning, Potto was already in the water. We've never gotten there first. You gotta get up pretty early in the morning to beat Pete to the spot.

Les launched easily, but his other buddy had his access denied. I give him credit for getting back up and successfully getting out there. Austin and I waited forever for a window and got in fairly dry. Once out there, we found the spot and picked them off, one by one. The wind got fierce, so we headed in around noon. As soon as we landed, the wind stopped and the sun came out...figures. Others were doing well, too. We met Dume Vinnie and Leo...nice to meet you guys.

I finally got my ling, but he was just too little, too late (19"):

We stocked up on flakey, white meat:

It was fun to squeeze a bit more juice out of my 2007 license. Gotta go to Big5 for 2008's. The Angler's Den was out of stock!

Thanks John for getting the report started.

The morning started with a strong NW wind. No way was I going far from the beach. Until the wind shifts, I wasn't going anywhere. While waiting for better conditions, I found my bait. Plenty of nice size macs. I even kept a few for hooping.

When the sun finally came out, fishing was good. Warm sun, and little or no wind. But that only lasted for 30 minutes before it turn SE with nasty wind waves.

I did manage to bring home some nice tastey brown rock fish.
Yummy!

You're right, Frank. Pete, are you sure you didn't draw those splotches on with a black marker? 'Cause that's what it looks like.

Frank and Dennis Spike were the only two fishermen to mention the BSB. I guess others don't care, don't know, or are commercial fisherman and support the by-catch keeper.
