La Jolla, nice paddle

Paddled La Jolla today. Went light with with just iron. Hoped to find em and get close with out skipping baits behind me.

Saw lots of mammals including a lone grey whale and a small pod of Risso's -- don't get to see those everyday. Nothing to throw a jig at, but a good start to the day....

I was reading that Risso's in the area can mean squid is around. I've only accidentally snagged one squid this winter and that was over a big soft bottom area, didn't even meter them. Find the squid, find the fish, I'm gonna keep looking.

bite's on. Nice grade too, 30# and up. GBers can PM me for details if you'll be fishing in the area over the next few days, or just follow the blood in the water
