Looking to start hoopnetting this lobster season and wondering if anyone out there has any advise or any spots to pick up some bugs around dana point harbor. Anyone out there get me going in the right direction? Oh yeah I'm going to be going out of my kayak so any feedback from any yakers out there that have hoopnetted would be cool

get up next to the rocks no matter where you hoop at and make sure your bait is as fresh as possible. Rotten bait will bring in only crabs at best and sand flees if nothing else. Not much to it really just be careful on a yak that you don't over load.

I would imagine that the outside would be better with weather and seas permitting. But the inside also should produce.

Something I would do though...

go to the location and see where everyone else is staking they're claim on the wall. Hooper's tend to hit spots that have produced in the past, so that would be an easy way of figuring out your location.
