Malibu 7/4 report

Hit Malibu first thing in the morning armed to find something toothy or nothing at all.

Lots of bait scattered EVERYWHERE! Birds were working a spot so I head over...late....good marks though no takers.
Ponder paddling WAY up the coast but figure it's early enough to just pack it up and relaunch.

3 other yaks out at working the pier area as well.

Get out at destination #2 to drag the Rapala's around some more.
Click.....click.....wrong kind!

Lots of scattered bait here as well....with the bass going nuts all over the place. Too bad I dont have the right gear!

Check out the bow of the boat in the background.
Get a half dozen bass on the troll...with them on the surface all the way out to 60ft. Get one nice knockdown that only stays on for a minute....almost got a nice Bendo shot, but took too much time clearing the other line.
And for giggles...video clip of a foul hooked dink calico on the troll.

Oh yeah..for you batray guys...plenty of big cruisers all over the place!

68 Degrees on the sonar! I surfed Pitas today and it was in the 50's! Nice basses.

Yeah the temps were up which is why there was so much activity out there. Was reading anywhere from 64-68.

Nice report MJ. I did an afternoon paddle near the Malibu pier on the 4th also. No rods with me but did see a nice bait ball getting pushed to the surface.
