kayaking the islands

Are there any 6 paks or other charter operations that can/will accommodate kayakers outta CI or VTA? This Seabass bite is killing me. I know I can hop on a sportboat, but I don't know how to fish standing up .

I think Rhyno takes Island Packers out of Ventura Harbor... but I don't know the logistics of the arrangement.

Hey Dan there is a place in Ventura Harbor that will drop you off on friday and pick you up sat, or sunday! JJ is right about the name and it end up costing around 75 bucks for the ride. It isnt a mother ship thing its just a Bus to the islands. It works though!

Hey guys, when I went out Fri. and Sat. with DancingDolphin, he mentioned maybe loading up his boat with kayaks and taking some people to the islands. That would be awesome. It's just a maybe but he did mention it. No pressure Ed. It's a big thing to take on. I don't want to make you feel like your being put on the spot here. Only a thought.

Fishing the islands from a kayak would be a dream come true, especially when the WSB & YT are on the chew!!

Island Pakcers (out of Ventura) will take your kayak and stuff out to Scorpion Ranch. You camp there but the fishing staight out is not that good. Three years ago, I camped there and made the paddle to Yellow Banks but that was a good 5 mile paddle one way. I got pretty tired and had to bail early.

The way to go is to charter a boat and fish where the bite is - maybe out at Santa Rosa!! PM me if anyone would care to haul my Tarpon 160i out there!! Will pay gas, and food, and beer!! I can go anyday, anytime!

Adam you've got a 160i! You can paddle there and back on your own!!!
The guys at CKF do roundtrip Island paddles often. Some of them even ran into what was probably that 1000lb Mako(report said it was caught at east anacapa) which is where one of the guys was being checked out by a good 12' shark. They leave from CI Harbor at 5am do a lap around Anacapa and are back at the beach by Noon...it's an absolute shame that they dont have a line or two draggin behind them the whole way.

Oh yeah...they bring camping gear incase they want to stay at the island overnight before making the return paddle the next morning. Some will just get a one-way ride back home via Island Packers.
