Giant Trevally off the Rocks

Hi,

I am a newbie here, and am enjoying seeing wonderful catches
of other members here at the extreme fishing threads.

Let me also post my recent catch here.
The photo below is me holding 40kg Giant Trevally,
caught by myself off the rocks at night, on popper casting.

Cheers,
INE

Aloha, glad to see such a nice catch and of course another angler interested and investing the time to catch such big game as the Ulau. I guess I am fortunate to have such fish here in the islands even 5 minutes away. Throwing poppers are great for doing so, if given the chance and you are shorecasting, try sliding live bait out for them. What type of Popping blank are you using? I recently tied up a Black Hole blank for such and workin on a Fisher blank, two very different blanks yet proven for hauling in 100lb plus Ulua,

Aloha

Creekster, majority of Ulua, at least here in the Islands are caught at night, or times of low level light. Ulua are top predators, yet for some reason prefer evening hunts. Its a blast battling such a fish during the evening, on the rocks or even beach. I have landed a few during the early morning hours, yet far and few between. There are various Species of GT, White Ulua being the largest, that one looks like a Black Ulua which appears to be a pretty large one and of all the Ulua species, in my experience fight the hardest. Nice catch
