Penn 4/0 Conversion-Jvariance kit

Just finished converting my 4/0 penn using a Jvariance kit (frame and sideplates). Easy to swap out the parts-took about a 1/2 hour. Added a 4:1 Newell stainless gear set, greased ht100 drags and an Accurate handle (all from Charkbait.com). The Jvariance kit is very nice quality, both in the machine work and the anodized finished. Only precaution to take is care in tightening the two short screws at the back of the frame-snug only or you'll strip them out. For 95 bucks you can't beat it. Also, had some questions and the owner responded quickly-great customer service.

Was playing around with the idea of building another reel (gold to match another rod). Looked on PennParts.com to see what new parts would cost. To my surprise it totalled up to $124.45 without adding taxes or shipping! Wow. Much cheaper to buy a used one and salvage all of the parts you need.

Not to pry but how much did that whole project run minus cost for the original reel.

other than the original 4/0 I had, the frame and sideplates with hardware was $95 delivered, I spent $23 bucks for the Newell gear set and $10 for the carbon fiber drag set (HT100 set which included the metal washers). The handle was $39.00 new. All parts other than the frame and sideplate kit were purchased at Charkbait.
