Well we put up then notice for the Jamboree 7 months in advance. Although we did experience an overall success there are a few things we need to address for next year.
- Giveaways & Sponsors - I waited till the last minute to start working on Giveaways and Sponsors to donate to the Jamboree. My bad and should have started this process well in advance. Fortunately I contacted a number of members who helped out and we came up with some pretty good stuff and over $4000.00 worth of free stuff. We ended up having JackpotJohnson organize all the items and follow up with the Sponsors to ensure they delivered items on time. Jackpot did and OUTSTANDING job on this and if he will take the job on we will let him handle the Giveaway and Sponsors for next year. Lets not forget a BIG THANK YOU to our SPONSORS and ensure we patronize each and everyone of them
- Charter Trips -
- 2-Day Tuna Trip - Last minute cancellations cost a member to fork out a good portion of cash from their own pocket. This is unacceptable - as with any Charter if you cancel then it is your responsibility to find a replacement or you forfeit your money. We all understand that emergencies happen and can usually help in finding a replacement if notified in time. GBSF has always reserved spots by word only and worked with our members. Now that the site is growing we will have to follow the traditional rules in the future. Spots only reserved after payment is received (first come first served), if you must cancel it is your responsibility to find a replacement that should reimburse you your funds but you also are required to update the Charter Master so that the Manifest is correct.
- Mirage Overnight Trip - Had difficulty filling this Charter that should have been a slam dunk.
- So future charters will need to be re-thought. Perhaps things need to be spread out over a longer period of time allowing for the event to occur on Weekends instead of during Weekdays. Please let us know your thoughts if you feel this would help enable folks to attend and join this Charters so we can fill them.
- BBQ - Gets better every year and as un-inviting as Mugu Beach is for this type of event is appears to have gone very well from all reports I received to date. Carnivore as always was the saving grace here and JackpotJohnson worked his tail off for the events and figuring how to give everything away.
So the question has been asked -
When Do We Start Working On Next Years Jamboree? The answer is
NOW!
We need both positive and negative (tactfully of course) feedback to enable us to better plan next years events.
Should we only have Charters and Events on the Weekends???
Please provide us with your thoughts, input and opinions.
NOW -
A HUGE THANKS to both the members who worked so hard to put this all together
AND to
YOU THE MEMBERS who attended and made this event a success.
I am sorry I was unable to attend this year, but family responsibilities and Members being upset that I seemed to always take back home most the Trophies that my wife donates prevented me from attending. Plans are that I will be there next year again so BajaDave and FishersDad can forget about next years First Place Trophies so enjoy the ones you have heheehe

. Yes the trash talking has begun already

.
Lets hear about When School starts so we can have the Jamboree so all can attend. Talk has been to perhaps add a
1. Golf Tournament (most likely a Texas Scramble Shotgun Start) and a
2. Poker Game (7-Card Draw or Texas Hold'Em) to next years Jamboree as well -
THOUGHTS???
BOTTOM LINE - Another Successful Jamboree that out did last years. With all of you providing input, opinions and such next years will even be better than this years.
So don't misunderstand we are very happy with the way this years Jamboree turned out, just trying to make next years even better. I mean if we are going to have folks coming from as far away as Africa then we need to try and get it as right as we can and planned as well as we can to ensure all is smooth and not to much of a time crunch going on.
Wishing You All,
"TIGHT LINES, BENT RODS & SCREAMIN' REELS"
