standing (STILL) line will get cut vs. the line that's pulling away or in. If your in a tangle , try not to stop your line, wind fster than the other guy, and slice his off. stroke, stroke, stroke

And there are two prime-time opportunites to do this:
1. When the standing (STILL) line is hooked to a stubborn fish. Heck, if the guy aint got the ability to move his fish; screw him! He aint gonna get it in anyway. He should thank you for cutting off his unbreakable line so he can get back to fishing for smaller and easier to handle fish that much quicker.
2. When the deckie grabs all lines involved in said tangle. If you can get yours in and out of the way first, you can get back to fishing that much quicker.

The title of this post should have been;
The title of this post should have been;
Spectra versus mono and how to screw your fellow angler.
First let me say I have been involved in many debates concerning spectra versus mono.
50lb.spect. and 30 top shot 15yds or so
Problem number one;
50# spectra breaks at 50#’s or very near 50#’s while 50# mono can STRECTCH and break at 60 or 70#’s, this will never happen with spectra it consistently breaks at or near the rating! Your top shot should be the same or better when fishing spectra! 50# spectra = 50 # mono or BETTER.
my buddy Dan is always crying im goona tangle him becouse of my spectra vs his mono. but we never tangle
Problem number two and three;
He is whining and YOU have stated, “we never tangle” LOL, LOL, LOL!
If it’s not broke don’t fix it and as Murphy would say. “If it can go wrong it will.”
If he is your FRIEND hand him a pole with spectra, and tell him to shut up and fish, have a beer and chill. We learn by experience, or at least most of us do, and he will in fact find a place for spectra in his heart, BUT it will be HIS place.
Spectra is definitely a cool thing they use it in bullet proof vests and Mono is also cool they both have their place! I really do not see the problem! Remember the word, “friend” I think this will help!!

I don't get the spectra vs mono argument at all. Spectra is pretty good stuff and has it's place. So does mono. Spectra backing with a mono topshot is awful hard to beat performance wise, especially for bigger game. I wonder if back in the day of linnen fishing line they argued that mono did not fish as well? Were there linnen vs mono discussions in tackle shops and at the docks? I bet the direct descendants of those that thought linnen line was the only choice are now telling us spectra is not good line for whatever reason. Just nod in agreement whenever your bud whines about your line. Then just keep fishing it.

Like Bunner says its not mono or spectra, its moving line or still line. When in a line confrontation always keep your line moving. Sometimes you cannot crank in line, in that case just loosen your drag and let the fish pull line out. The key is to always keep YOUR line moving, either in our out. I have cut spectra with my mono.
