Piru Report 3/30
Hi guys,
After a few weeks of planning and trips to the tackle shop, My buddy and I decided to hit up Piru on Sunday.
I woke up at 4:30 to the sound of rain, but that wasn't going to stop us. We arrived at the lake at 6:45 and were on the water at 7:05. We motored out to this one spot that produced a few quality bass for me last year. After about an hour we have to go back to the dock to pick up another buddy that got a late start. Then we went back out to the same spot.
I tied on a drop-shotted Oxblood Robo and on my second cast I get hit and pull in a 2 lb male. Then a few cast later I nailed a 3 lb male. Then the bass fishing slowed, my friends tried everything in their arsenal even roostertails while I stuck with drop-shot. Then my buddy gets a nice trout, then another. then another. So I decide to change it up and throw a silver panther martin out. On the first cast I land a really nice 2lb rainbow.
We tried a few more coves and then decided to troll needlefish by the dam... all for nothing. So we called it a day at about 12:30.
Eventhough it was sprinkling for the first part of the day it was a pleasent day on the water, plus no one got skunked and I won our little 30 dollar jackpot.
Word of Cation - Watch out for all of the floating crap that's in the water if you plan a trip up to Piru.
Take it easy guys,
Chris
