Castaic...again

I am going again tomorrow or sunday. Are any of you "Get-Benters" going out either day? I could really use a tips for killing this skunk.

It's my plan to hit the lower lagoon early and stay til dark if I must.

Help!

Rip,

If you want to catch a fish and you don't care how big it is, here is what you need to do. Set up on the shore near a spot where there are reeds (there are only a few of them and they are in the campground area). Set up your pole with six pound test and a # 2 Gamakatsu Dropshot hook. Throw out a 4.5 inch Oxblood Roboworm on a dropshot setup and work it as close to the reeds as you can. That setup is always good for a bass in the 1 to 2 pound range. If you want bigger fish, you need to get into a boat and head away from the heavily fished shoreline areas. The Lagoon is heavily fished, so it is tough to catch them from the shore.

Good luck out there.

Funny you should say that - just today I went to Walmart and bought 4" Oxblood Light Red and 4 1/2" Oxblood straight-tail Robo's and learned how to tie the drop-shot rig. I will bring a camera in high hopes. LoL Thanks so much.

By the way, do you know if they allow those inflatable 1-man pontoons in the lower lagoon? Or the upper for that matter?

I believe they allow everything as long as it's not using a gas motor.

There is some good advice on this thread!

Also, you are allowed to tube or pontoon on the lagoon. You are not allowed to float tube the upper lake. I am not sure if pontoons are allowed on the upper.

Thanks Bruce! Just like you said - drop-shot oxblood robo.

I posted a pic in the "freshwater boat"....under YOUR blog. I just saw Castaic in the heading and jumped on the bandwagon before I realized I posted in the wrong section.

Forgive me kids. I am still new here!

I figured you needed the photo here as well so everyone can see that you caught it. I have Photoshoped it down to size for you.
