WHAT A DAY ON THE WATER!!!

The post that has been coming for a year and a half now..

Boat =30k
diesel =100 bucks
regular =240 bucks
new navman =100 bucks
22 mile trip =2 gallons of diesel burned.
Launch ramp parking =5 bucks
flawless solo launch =priceless

2 DEAD FING BATTERIES!!!!! KISS MY ROSY RED .

Man I was just waiting for that other GD shoe to drop it just didn't have to kick me. Brought the boat all the way back home to have it on the charger for 2 minutes!!! 2 DAMN MINUTES!! to start up fine. I even pulled a battery out of the truck to try and jump it to know avail.

Before you give me any crap I ran the boat yesterday day in the yard with no problem and even toped off the batteries with a charge and it still died on me. I am going out and getting drunk see you all in a few days.

corroded cable back up and INSIDE the insulation from the clamp?

sorry to hear that you came all the way down for simply a successful launch and retrieval. i was doing "happy trawler owner" stuff this morning and was probably dragging my sorryass into the WhalesTail for bloody mary/champagne brunch about the same time that you were needing the same. got cell?

Always next weekend. Hey, at least you know you can launch and retrieve it easy enough. Sounds like you have a bad connection somewhere, probably on the engine, especially since your truck battery would not work. It's a bunch harder to turn overt a diesel than it is an outboard. Yamaha 2 strokes are also famous for having this little electrical part with wires that enter an epoxy sealed box that has been known to go intermittent prior to complete failure. It's a little black cube about 2"x2". Can't remember what it is called. If you could crank the engine, but it would not starrt, then I'd look hard at the engine. If the engine would not even crank, I'd be looking to the boats electrical or the starter.

Pep Boys. 1200 suge, 1000 running 2 stroke generator with battery recharge kit. Approximate 12X12X12. $99-$129. Bought on for the boat (sailboat no engine charge) just to have the ability run the chargers, and run a microwave.

Just a thought with all the other stuff you have.

Thumbs down

Well I have to say that this was an idiot error on my part. This is a case of not following through with what needed to be done. The boat had a bad battery when I bought it and long story short I didn't load test the batteries when I changed them out. The wiring on the perco switch was back wards too. #1 should be the start battery and 2 should be the house battery. I didn't check it and was running the lights at night off the starting battery. That drained it too much and combined with the other dead battery (confirmed by a load test) and well I wasn't going anywhere.

I had just used the idea that one battery wouldn't really take a charge and the other one did. I should have done a load test and would have known I was wrong. More tests like making sure that there is no load once the switch is off but this was just me not following through and it bit me in the ass. This won't happen again for sure, I guess it is live an learn. Next weekend I am running my Bro in law and nephew out to Cruz and all should be fine.
