Article - Strong Offshore Winds Bring Upwelling to Central Coast / SB Channel

The link below is to an article discussing upwelling that is occuring off the Central Coast / Channel Islands, causing water temps to dip 4 to 5 degrees below normal and bringing nutrient rich water to the surface. I am not sure how this will impact the WSB and Halibut, spring season, but should be great for the colder water species rockfish, lings, etc. I am guessing all but the hardiest of the homeguard yellowtail will head for warmer water?

Can anyone weigh in on how past upwelling events have impacted the Channel Island Fishing?

2002 was a great year so it shouldn't be a big deal. Although the water gets colder it is more aimed up north of us not so much here in the islands as we get the trade waters up from the south more then they do above point conception. From that point the water circles out to open water then gets cooled off from that point to do the trip all over again.
