Say you went fishing on Saturday the 14th and sometime before midnight you caught a WSB (limit 1). Then you fish through the night (the morning of the 15th) and catch two more fish (limit 3) are you good to go??? You stayed within the limit requirement for the dates, still within the possession limits, and...well I think OK. But if someone has another opinion, I'd like to hear it. Thanks

see, in his original post, it was still a completely hypothetical situation. I/we assumed he was under the assumption that the limit changed on the 15th and was merely asking a hypothetical situation. Now, if he was actually fishing on the 14th and the 15th, then yes he would need a multi day permit and would only have a limit of 2 and I think I am ramblingsoIsillstoptalkingnowandgotobed...

Does anybody really need 4 white seabass to go into the freezer at one time? It's good fresh, and is ok after being frozen, but it's not the best stuff for long term freezer storage.

Depends, if you only get one trip a year then 4 would be good. If you get more trips, then one or two fish (depending on size) is good. It's all in the numbers...or so they tell me.

Yep....purely a hypethetical as I can't seem to catch one of those "ghosts" anyway!!! I was merely thinking if we went over Saturday afternoon and were lucky enough to catch one, if we stayed into the next day (after midnight) could we catch two more and have a legal limit (one day). I can't stay into Monday, so the reality is it won't happen. In my above scenario, I would need a multi-day permit to catch two fish...one Saturday and one Sunday. Thanks for your thoughts guys, and yes, ONE would be plenty for me!!!!!

You would need a 2 day permit. Say you went on an overnighter and caught a seabass before midnight, that would be your limit for the trip....period.

White seabass are a bit delicate... The experts really don't recommend catch and release fishing for WSB, and their suggestion is, once you have what you intend to keep, leave the area and fish somewhere that you're less likely to catch any more...

I work with one of the outgrow facilities, and I believe I'm quoting that from some of the hatchery's literature, although I don't remember for sure where I saw it. I'll try to go through it and see where I saw that...
