WSB Question

I know this forum is mainly for reports, but I feel like it is probably also the best place to find advise on WSB. I live in SB and would really like to get on an overnight trip with a decent chance at seabass. I am guessing that one of the Ventura area outfits would be closest. Can anyone recomend a good boat to go out on? I don't have much experience with the boats and captains down there and the last time I went I was extremely disapointed (I won't mention the name of the boat, but it was bad). Anyway, I would appreciate any advise that you may have. Thanks.

Mirage has an open party this week i believe. Call the landing and jump on it..No better chance at the moment.

The fish are there. Santa Cruz Island is stuffed with WSB right now. Check out Channel Island Harbor or Port Hueneme. Ask the staff who they suggest for WSB. Go full day not 3/4. Check the fish counts in the paper or internet. Weather is the issue. It's been blowin the last two days. One day a boat will get three the next day they get thirty. Mirage works hard for fish and seem to be a favorite on this site. Also, check out Steve Kelly with the Island Tac or Sean Stewart on the Aloha Spirit.

Hands down, jump on the Mirage for an overnight open party trip.

Your next bet would be the Aloha Spirt for a 3/4 day run.

The Island Tak is a seabass killer but does not have any open party. It's charters only so unless you know someone who has one with open spots, you won't be able to get on.
