Monster Mako

My dad and I entered the PCYC mako tourney w/chris on the"DEFIANCE".We ran to the outside grid and started our slick. It didnt take long to work and this tiny mako showed:lol:,I just grabbed it out of the water. We had sharks at the boat pretty much all day,but nothing over the 65lb min.It was gettin close to the 5:00 stop fishing and 1 minute before we hooked this monsterfish.it was an awesome fight and the shark jumped 4 times clearing the water easy and did some awesome runs.It ate a mack on a tiagra 50 with 80lb jb.fought the fish stand up for 2+hours before we sunk the flyers into her.Couldn't get her into the boat, had to drag her back.the fish measured 10'3" forklenghtThe sucky part is we didn't make the weigh in and would have won the tournament hands down. The shark weighed a little over 900lbs and was only 50 lbs shy of the calif.80lb line class record.the fish had a dolphin skull in its stomach and a bunch of flesh.Team Ozz won w/a 740lb shark.

That sucks about the weigh in. That thing is a monster. Amazes me every year the size of some of the Makos that tourney gets. Nice job!

Please tell me you guys were a LONG way offshore, and not around any stucture less than 150'.That one would make me dirty my wetsuit for sure.
Awsome catch, too bad about the weigh in.
