Red face 1/2 day on the Twin

My best friend Mary (Batray) had some family in town visiting (sister and brother-in-law) and they wanted to go fishing...They had not been for a few years so we decided the half day was the best bet....I took the day off to join them....

Always a good time for me on the Speed Twin...I get to hang with my boy and watch him grow as a fisherman...He was on the chum yesterday...

Everyone ordered Breakfast burritos, but I opted for the liquid breakfast...

We went out to Rock dip for a bit in the morning...Not to productive so we ate, drank and were merry!!!!

We finally hit a real small stone that produced some reds that were outer Island quality but the drift was so fast and the current so raging...We pulled a handful of them off the stone and called it quits on the rock-fishing and headed for the East end of Anacapa...

Pulled up and the Island Spirit was there also...Barracuda were on the chew and awful fun to catch so I tied on an iron while others fished the bottom for Sculpin.....One guy hung something large and after 5 trips around the boat he had color on a Black Seabass that was easily in the 120 pound range....Freakin' TOAD!!! While the crew released that I started tossin and on the fouth cast my wind came to a complete stop...HOOK UP!!!!

The pelicans were absolutely freakin' REDICULOUS!!!!!! They were flying into the lines, eating the iron, attacking the boat waiting for that piece of fin bait chum to hit the water....That was frustrating....

All in all great day of fishing...Always a blast to fish the Iron... Final counts for the day were 9 Sculpin, 31 Barracuda, 18 Vermilion Rockfish, 160 Rockfish, 1 Giant Sea Bass Released

I ended up with the JP tipping the scales with a 6 1/2 pound Log...

I hooked five fish, two of which I handed off, one to Mary's sister who had never caught one, and to one of the sweetest little girls all decked out in pink and totally fishy!!!!!

Those of you who know me also know that I always have a kiss shot for every trip... Wasn't sure how I felt about kissing a slime stick but I went for it anyway...

Pretty rad with the teeth showing....Even talked Mary into it....She would not make contact at first, but after a little coaxing she was there...
