Aloha spirit 8-8-08

Went on the aloha spirit this morning, headed straight for santa cruz.Fishing started of kinda slow, just picking off a few calicos here and there. The wsb were not popping up anywere, so we decided to head toward the backside of anacapa, but still it was the same thing, just a few scattered calicos. It was around 1pm when the captain got word that the cudas were biting just around the corner from us.Since we were not doing exceptionally well drifting the kelp beds, we went and took a stabb at the cudas. The moment we started thrownig bait and irons in the water, it was none stop action for about 2 hours, and these cudas fatties to, averaging around 8 lbs.Great way to finish out a slow day.I ended up with 1 rockfish, 4 calicos, and around 20 huge barracuda, and it was also a beautiful day out there.

If you bleed them right when you catch, then put them on ice, they are pretty good. If you let them sit in gunny sacks all day long and forget about it....
