Gentleman 8-13

Fished the Gentleman yesterday. Overall it was very slow. A few bass came on the boat. Quite a few Opeleye were the main catch. I was surprised at how hard the Opeleye fought. I took my Opeleyes home and cooked them up. I was not very happy with the quality of the fish. Are opeleye considered good eating?
I fished with people who had never fished before on both sides of me but both groups were cool and we had very few problems.
One thing I noticed was that the bait was not in very good shape. The bait was not made any better by the fact that a lot of the fisherman were using small aquarium nets to get bait. They would scoop all the bait out pick their bait out and then put the rest back leaving it in very bad shape. At one point the Captain told the deckhand to stop people from doing it but the deckhand never said anything to anybody. Oh well any day on the water beats a day of work.

Aquarium nets to get their bait? That's funny!

Summertime fishing brings out the best of anglers.

Thanks for the report. By the way, where were you fishing?

Deck hands are Bobby and Chris....Teddy used to run the boat, now it's Donnie...He is a great captain, just trying to rebuild the Gent's reputation... I think fishing took a turn south due to the full moon...Pretty much sucks everywhere right now.... I went overnight with 36 peeps for only 6 total fish for the whole boat......Still better than work!!!
