Legacy Offshore Rpt
8-31-
Our second trip to San Diego with the Legacy in tow proved to be worth the effort from Ventura. Decent sardines from EB the bay was a blessing. Within an hour we found a nice paddy "holding" above the upper Nine Mile Bank. Instant double on larger dorado that pull hard. Things dried up so Worked toward the lower banks outside the 302 for next 1.5 days and found lots of small albies (5-15-lbs) in the am. We wanted a larger variety and bigger units so off to the 390-spot, a 25-mile run south. Nice water! Like 71 to 73-degrees/purple, lots of kelps holding and Yellowfin under the porpoise. Trolled a Fish Trap, 2-0unce Chn Isle Chovie for two nice ones. Get a call from another boat that we have a marlin jumping close to our boat but we never saw it while pullin on yft. Getting late so we bend it toward the 371-spot and locate another paddy with jumpin dorado. Full-speed ripper for 1-hr before we drive away from biting fish. Released most fish but kept what we needed from a stop that produced 17 dorado and 5 yellows up to 20-lbs. Todd begins cutting fish while we head toward S Coronado Island to spend the night but not before adding 7 more albies to 35-lbs trolling inside. Great to be fishing with good friends. Sorry, the only pics I have are from my camera phone. Final for 2 ang was 20 dorado, 10 albies, 3 yellowfin tuna, 5 yellows, and 2 huge skippies.
