Aloha Spirit 9/2/08 Calico

What a time we had fishing with Captain Shawn and his crew on the Aloha on Tuesday
I had a family reunion during the Labor day weekend and was not able to fish until Tuesday and I am telling you it was driving me nuts
but boy was it worth it when we did get to go.
I had my little Bro Ron and his girl Carol to fish with from Spokane and considering I have not seen him in 12 years and when we were kids we fished from sun up to sun down he was my fishing buddy.
It seemed we went down memory lane at every point of the island we passed until we got to our destination ( I promised Shawn not to say where).
Well Shawn did not dissapoint me again we started slamming them Calicos like it was the 70s all over again.
We met several retired gentlemen that were putting on a clinic for sure
every cast it seemed we heard fish on or hook up!!!
then there were those pesky Bones in the mix boy they are fun to pull on though.
And then to have my Bro get the Jack pot on one large A$$ Cali was the pinacle of our trip
All in All a very beautiful day on the water with my Bro and also getting to meet several new fishing friends in Steve and Gary it was a great adventure to say the least.
To Captain Shawn "You are the Man"
Thanks for showing us another great time
The Aloha ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nice report! That seems like a great way to handle the fish rather than the hot and steamy gunny sacks we are used to seeing on most boats!

Yeah, Shawn still has the sacks and uses them, but every hour or so they put the fish on those stringers and into the cooler. It keeps the fish much better.

Looks like a great trip. Calicos are still one of my favorite eating fish. Rolled in bread crumbs and fried in butter. Yummy.

Actually we had 21 paid fishermen on it
and some with shall we say veteran experience (Calico Slayers)
but still had plenty of room on board
I got the same email from Shawn, I am still trying to figure out how to ditch work and go again........
