West Coast - Saltwater Off-Shore & Island Boat ReportsPrivate, Charter & Sportfishing Boat Reports for all Off-Shore/Open-Ocean/Island waters of the West Coast
Found the big floater aprox 40-miles SW of Pt Loma and proceeded to load up on fat yellowfin tuna for 2-hrs. At one point the tuna ate the chunk with baited hooks. Saw some major blow outs on tuna est at 50-lbs. Noticed the San Diego sportboat Constitution inbound and wanting to join in the fun so we offered to share the hotel's offerings. They were gracious and gave us two nice passes of cured bait. Round two on the way! Paddy action dried up so it was off to find more fun. Found spinners holding tuna about 5 miles due west, just outside the 43 in 71.5 degree blue water. At one point we had the yft and skips foaming on the stern eating dead bait and chunks. Could have lift poled this stop. Lost one fish at deep color pushin 50#. Slow trolling 2-ounce fish traps was the ticket while moving slowely around the spinners. No need to run n gun. Called it a day at 1:30pm with 25 fat yellowfin and 4 dorado in the box. Saw porpoise holding schools of ravenous tuna as close 12m from Dana Pt. Great fishing, calm weather, and an awesome time with two good friends. ~ <;//>-(

Nice going Michael!!! Lot's a cleaning buddy!!! If it was just the two of you, that means one guy driving and the other cleaning.....fun to catch...but that's a bunch of YFT to clean by yourself. OR maybe that guy taking the pictures cleaned them!!! Very nice report and great pics...thanks! Hoping to stay coastal this weekend and see if I can find a halibut on the beach. I think those fish can hear me coming.
