Aloha Spirit 9-15-08 Report
Had 15 anglers boared the Aloha this morning, plenty of room, it was great. Head out of the harbor entrance and are greeted with a bump and a breeze. We are headed for Chinese but 20 mins into the ride Shawn says we are going to the eastend of Capa. Weather was just getting snottier and snottier. Get to the east end make 1 drop and Shawn says lets head to the backside as it was just too windy. We battled the wind and current on 3 other spots on the backside of Capa. Shawn says screw this were going to Cruz. Weather starts to settle down and the sun pops out and man it got nice!
We start picking away at some quality whitefish. Bite dies so we make a couple short moves. We get on another nice bite on the whitefish, it just got silly man. I put the 20lb in thew rack and grabbed my bass rod Crucial 711MH with a Revo Inshore with 12lb XXX Izore I promptly get hammered by a Sheep on the cut squid, had to pull him out of the weeds and every drop after that was thumper! Awesome fun on the lite stuff. Shoot even Hammerhead was catching fish and alot too!!..lol " fernie I never seen you catch so many fish" the he says " because Bajadave isnt here"..LMAO!
So after putting about 80 whitefish onboard Shawn says lets go see if we can get some bass, right on! Head over to Yellow Banks, is that were we where, Joey? Saw the Tak there too. Victor started chumming heavy and it brought the Calicos up, I managed to release 7 bass all on the Hammers, stupid fun. Then a knothead came in and shut the bite down. Great bite on some quality Sheephead had about 20 nice ones! Turned out to be a beautiful day, until we surfed all the way home, hell of a gnarley crossing, crazy! Super fun day with Hammerhead and Hotrail. Oh, also Hammerhead and Hotrail got their first Sheephead they were reel happy about that. Hammerheag also took JP with log of a Barrie, cool huh!
I tell you guys, Shawn works hard to put you on fish if you havent fished the Aloha Spirit, well, you should.
