To make a long story short because I'm too tired to write a full report, it goes like this...
Fished Santa Cruz withCarnivore today for a slow steady pick of calicos and whiteifsh. Also I hooked about a hundred pound batray which was fun to play tug-o-war with. The highlight of the day happened at yellow banks when i hooked what appeared to be a large yellowtail. It was on my ARC with a Calcutta 400 and I just couldn't stop it. I saw a large flash below and this fish took off like a freight train. Me and Drew spent over a half our working on this fish through the kelp. It dove straight through the thick of it and when we would free it from one kelp stringer, it would run to another.
Needless to say I got my butt kicked and the fish won. I guess thats what I get for hooking a large fish on 15# gear in a kelp forest.
Oh well, maybe next time...
But for now, I"m off to bed.
