Bugs on Saturday night!

Met up with Dos Amigos (aka Tony) at Ventura Harbor on Saturday night and got in the water around 7:00. Headed to the jetty, and to no surprise it was completely lit up with traps...again...so we decided to set them along the inside opposite the main jetty. Nothing but big rock crabs for a while, so we made a move, and whammo! 13 nice bugs in about an hour, and then it just shut off. We got majorly waked by a big private boater and ended up loosing 4 traps cause of him, so we moved again and finished the night out with a few shorts and some nice spider crabs. Final count: 13 lobsters, 30+ rock crabs, 4 large spider crabs, and 4 lost hoop nets.

Tony did a great job for his first night out, or better yet, just a great job period!

Wow, I guess the guys got quite a reputation out there. Yeah, it really sucked losing traps cause somebody's gotta be a cowboy.

If the guy is being unsafe, going to fast inside the harbor and/or putting you well being in danger get some CF numbers and start reporting this guy. A few reports and he will be paid a visit either in person or by mail.

Dude, why am I not surprised. It's not the first time it's happened, and I'm sure it won't be the last. Anyhow, way to go on the bugs, sux about the nets though. At least I get new nets out of it, LOLOL
