Venice Pier 9/11

Whats up everyone. Went out to the Venice Pier for a few hours last night. Fished Mid pier from about 5p-8pm. Had my new Big Boy Set up (Abu Garcia C3 w/ 7' Casting Ugly stick) and my chepo Target mini rod. I rigged up some squid on my Ugly stick but didnt catch a thing all night. My smaller rod was rigged up with a Sabiki & Mussel as bait, Managed to catch 2 YellowFinCroakers, a Dinky Perch and about 4 Smelt.
People where telling me about this guy who cought a leopard shark earlier, and another guy who was fighting a Thresher(sp.?) shark, But got away.
Not a whole lot of action but a fun night anyway. Im still trying to go for those nice big fish, anyone have any advice on what rigs work for what fish..let me know. thanx everyone-Jimmy

Hey,Jimmy....

Take one of those Smelt & pin it on a sliding Halibut rig or dropper loop. Also I use to use either salted or not whole Anchovies. That should attract the Sharks/Rays/Butts.Or get some Macs for the Threshers.............

Good Luck
P.S.,You might need a Bigger Outfit..........
