I was out the other night and the rules were still posted on a pole at the start of ramps. The problem is that those who don't know what is going on here may not see or look for it. Truegrit--What you do is your business. However the right or wrong of the restrictions and whether or not the are being enforced properly is immaterial. They are in place none the less. You are just being reminded of them. One of these days the patrol will start issuing citations and that will not be pleasant for those who get them nor for the the overall future for boat hooping in Ventura Harbor.

Maybe a lobster closer would be the best solution. 5 feet, 5 miles or 500miles! NO LOBSTER fishing!

Hahahah! Maybe i agree with you because I too have never experienced the powerful, drag burning runs that lobsters make when you ...uhhhh....net them??? LMAO

Honestly, it all does suck to have my friends not being able to do something they enjoy. But honestly, i would rather cast a Big Hammer at that damn breakwall and hook a monster calico that is trying his hardest to rock me.

This is the reason the new rules have been put in place, for the people who don't have the reasoning power not to fish this close to the rocks with a power boat. There are maps posted on bouys as you leave the mouth of the harbor and also on the inside of the break wall that show the legal areas to fish. All we need is to have someone on the rocks and the whole harbor will be shut down for the season. It's nice to have a place to get away for the evening and maybe get a dinner. I'm not there to make money like some are. I've been checked by the harbor patrol four of the five times I've been there, and I've seen them write tickets to those that have been to close. Its not that hard to fish legal and get a dinner too.

Just to fuel the fire, Truegrit, are you scared to get a ticket for keeping a black sea bass? Are you scared to get a ticket for undersized lobster? What about short white seabass, any fear of that ticket? This is how all it takes is one guy to screw it up for a bunch of people.
Where do you draw the line of fear of a ticket, and obeying the laws/rules?
