ventura wall # 2

Thought twice about posting this but for this board i will post... Got some info from guys who are keeping it quite, there limiting every night. The lobster are thick on the outside but reel close in. If you got a good team or a real small boat along with the wind and swell staying down you can get up to it close but its not easy so be carefull! We droped a string and went back to pull only could pull three nets safely that were straight, the rest we had to pull while backing out so those were empty. The good nets produced 4 legals and 1 short. After that we were done messing with it and tryed the inside corner. set the nets and pulled half of them when our moter died. All the sand pumping on the inside that there doing is making the water real dirty so I think we sucked up crap and over heated. Thank god for the kicker though. Switched over to secondary vale let it cool and started it up pulled the rest for 1 short and left. Harbor patroll said three boats have had their motors die in the last month (1 lost to the rocks). When we fish the outside we have the kicker down and started wating just incase. If you dont have a kicker dont chance it. Three years ago we almost lost a boat on the outside same damn wall when the moter died and the kicker saved us. There out there but but be prepared. The guys on the inside got 1 short.

Isn't this in violation of the new rules?

You are not allowed to hoop the outside closer that 250' from the jetty. If ones like you keep doing so and eventually having problems you are going to ruin it for eveyone. Eventually the only ones allowed to get lobster will be the divers and possible we kayakers. What you are doing is certainly nothing to brag about.

Well not to bring drama to the board but I see he is from Goleta and only has 4 posts so my question to him is did you know there was any limitations to how close you could come to the front wall at Ventura? Did you know of any rules at all about hooping at Ventura harbor? If not then you guys are slamming the wrong people.

My guess is the guy doesn't know about the new regulations, but I'm also assuming the harbor patrol won't be so forgiving if they are caught hoopin' too close to the wall.
