CIH Hoopin 11/14

Very nice conditions, air was warm, wind was light so i decided to get out and hoop CIH solo for the first time. got the boat out of my new slip at seabridge and made the slow cruise to the wall. it look about 20min but, found a nice shallow spot and dropped anchor about 10-15yds from the rocks (was in 6-7ft of water). i got creative with bait again since i didnt have any macks. got out a bunch of old freezer burnt fish and gave it a shot. hoops soaking by 515pm and made my first pull arond 545pm = 1 legal (a monster about 6-7lbs!!!) and 5 rock crabs. i was fired up after that! i had a good steady pull until 8pm when i headed in.

final count: 2 legals (no shorts), 6 nice spiders (kept two), and about 25 rock crabs (kept about 5-6).

this was my third time hoopin at CIH and the first time that i had any luck one of the baits that seems to work well for me was...........................a nice fillet of a monster baracuda from this summer!

pictures to follow shortly.

Nice job on the legals....

It's been a slow pick everywhere it seems lately.

not quite the cook like joe but...i'm not too bad in the kitchen. steamed the big guy in some dark beer like joe suggests, ate the little guy sushi style, the spider i also steamed then stir fried in a very hot wok-chinese style-with oyster sauce, garlic, soy sauce, seasame oil, red pepper, and my secret sauce...ketchup! i mixed the rock and spiders. it was my first time trying spider crab and i think i would rather eat the spider than the rock crabs. more bang for the buck. plus the rock crabs have this bitter after taste that i'm not a big fan of.....wils...there's your answer!
