2.11 • A Very Good Night (for me anyway)

Started off on the Sea World side of South Shores around 4:15pm, and worked my way to the cul-de-sac, where there is a new fence that runs almost the entire length of the shore from the landing to the cul-de-sac, which doubles back to enclose a swath of ground maybe 15-20' wide. I caught 2 spotties by the end of the fence. A guy told me that he and his dog were able to walk all the way around the outside of the fence, along the shore with no trouble, but I disagree. You'd have to be a mountain goat like my dog Sati to get past some areas, so we went around the backside and headed for the launch ramp. There were two guys fishing from the docks, one on each. They both said they'd caught a few spotties each, but the bite had died 45 minutes to an hour before. They took off and I caught 4 fish between 5:40 & 6:15, the last one the largest (last three images). My size 10 shoe is exactly 11.25" long.

My camera broke, so that's in the shop. Sorry about the crappy phone pics.

Oh yeah. Had to meet a friend up in Oceanside Saturday, so got my rod out and caught and released a little flattie right at sunset. Who said there's NFIO?

Oh yeah! All fish caught on the same 5" 'Smelt' Jerk Shad Gulp on a 1/4 yellow Cotee leadhead. That last fish killed it, .

Hey Lo!

I would love to try yak fishing, but I don't expect to be buying one for myself. My car is too small, I have nowhere to keep it, I've had back surgery, it seems like a lot of hard prep work to me. I think my favorite fishing of all is shore fishing the bay. I love going out on my friends boats, and I am so grateful that I do not have the headache of owning one that I am happy to do whatever I can to earn my passage. I have yakked the Phosphorescent Bay in Vieques, Puerto Rico several times, and am pretty confident I could pick it up again no problem. I do hope one day to be invited to try someone's extra yak, but I just don't see myself owning one.

Sounds like you are hooked on the plastic boats now. Might as well just get rid of the tube!
