bait and threshers
I fish for Thresher sharks off of Gaviota and Pismo beach piers. I'd like to know if any bait or any way early threshers have been caught off of So-cal piers and are heading my way.. anyone?

No threashers from So Cal? You serious?
I heard of people all the time getting them off Ventura pier using the flylined sardine.

it's not really the time of year yet. When the Threshers start coming into shallow water, it can go WFO up here though. Give it a few more months, and it should start getting good.

I have never caught one off a pier but have heard of the fly lined sardines as joey said. Some people cash out CD-12 and 14 repalas or even spoons too. Not sure what really works well.

the rapala magnum cd 14 in sardine coloring is my troller of choice, along with the magnum cd-18 in green mackerel. i dont know how youd manage them on a pier as far as casting goes, unless you got like an XXH spinning pole, or a really good/heavy baitcasting or jigstick setup. i agree on the flylined chovies, though.
