First hooping of 07

CAN YOU BELIEVE IT!!!! I WENT HOOPING!!!!

Got the call from Wils on Wednesday I called him back Thursday hehe and we planed Saturday. I have to say it was a flash back to the last 5 years getting hoops ready digging out my dry bag and charging my hand held etc. Met up at the launch ramp at 4pm and loaded all the stuff. Hit the breakwall by 4:30 ready to join the rest of the flotilla but they never really showed up. Water was flat with little movement (not good). Ran 10 nets for about 8 rounds for 30 rock crabs, 3 spider crabs, 2 kelp crabs and 1 lobster. Yep one only but luckily a legal . We hit it at sun down with nothing more all night.

Fishing census taker at the dock said they only saw 2 other buggs so we didn't do bad considering.

off the water about 10pm for loading, cleaning and a celebratory beer.

Thanks Bill for a fun time. I will have to return the favor. I guess no matter how much you fight it hooping gets in the blood so NOW I have to take the boat out of dry dock and get to hooping.

See ya out there.

NOOOOOW do you remember what it's like to be on a boat...
....ON THE WATER?

It was good to have you aboard, Carni. Too bad the lobsters couldn't figure out how to crawl through a current that was going 3-4 directions at the same time.

catching the same crab on consecutive pulls was pretty cool.

What is the position of the dredging pipes? Is it any more open then when we went Bill?

Conditions at Ventura are getting worse. The dredge is still there, but with no current there is a TON of floating debris that is next o impossible to see in the dark. Pray for a big swell to wash it all out.
