Calico Queen W/pics

Friday was so fun that we had to go again Sunday. We invited Hugh (TopStick) and his friend Dale to see if the bass would play one more time. We launched our 25 Davis Bahia from Cabrillo at 6:30 in fog, perhaps 200 foot visibility, and a low tide. We always have a bet for: first fish, biggest fish, most fish for a dollar each. Friday I (Paul) had my fifteen minutes of fame where I had a clean sweep for all three. Today, it was the Calico Queen that was crowned – Mary took the first fish (on the first cast) and the most fish. Hugh did get big fish honors with an almost legal ling and a 5+ pound calico. Mary had more big fish with 5 or 6 that were in the 4.5 to 5 pound range. Mary was on fire and we all hailed her as the undisputed Calico Queen for the day. In all, we easily caught 65+ bass before the bite died at 12:30 and we decided to call it a day. Water was flat, but the water temp had dropped to 62.5 - 65.
No fish were injured in the making of this posting, however all of our frail male egos will be smarting for some time – just kidding.
As always, all calicos were released, as were the 4 or 5 lings and 15+ sugar bass.

Paul and Mary
