LA Harbor Sportfishing 1/2 day

Had a pretty good day on the half day boat today. When out with Tim (basswhisperer) and we each caught a legal Halibut. Big catch of the day was this giant WSB. Thats right, an estimated 33-34# WSB on a half day boat. Here is the picture of me (far left), Tim (far right), and the big WSB caught today along with the other Halibut. Final fish count was...

1 WSB, 3 Butts, 5 Sandbass, and 96 Barracuda

I also landed a WSB but it was a bit short. Too bad, I still don't have a legal WSB...

Also, I would say that 50% of the Barracuda were caught on Tady C's and 544 Jigs and of the 30 people on the boat, only about 6 of us were throwing the iron. The WSB was on a white jig. You can see the jig he used in the picture below. I ended up with 7 Barracuda before I decided to put the Iron in the rod rack and spend some time with the old man soaking some dropper loops. (I don't get to see him that often and I wanted to hang with him, but the Iron's were still killing them after I put it away)

Great trip for a half day. Cool of you to switch to the dropper to spend time with your pops. I'd give a year of my life to fish one more day with my dad. Nice pic. Thanks for posting.

what a way to spend half of a day catching a butt and a ghost...congrats.

i have noticed this past month the half day boats specially out of redondo are coming up on WSB locally. so that must be a good sign to catch them out here in the years to come.

Never knock the 1/2 runs for sure............I caught my first Yellow, my first Seabass, and my first Halibut on a 1/2 day boat....
You just have to get out on the water whenever you can....you never know what bite might turn on........and the more your rod is in the water the better your chances are!!!!!

Sweet Day!!!! I think I am gonna 1/2 day it myself this weekend!
